There will be no excuse to not treat your mother to a great meal this Sunday as several places around the Triad are offering Mother’s Day dining specials.

The Claddagh in High Point is celebrating Mother’s Day with three seating times to enjoy their Chef’s Carving Station garlic and herb pork tenderloin. Their buffet will feature salmon, ham and beef tenderloin, in addition to a variety of brunch items. See their ad on page 37.

Melissa Sperka of Greensboro has been awarded a blue ribbon for her Bananas Foster Quesadilla recipe. The award came from Just A Pinch Recipes, a recipe and coupon social network for home cooks at www.justapinch.com.

Sperka, who has won several awards from the company, said on the web site, “Bananas Foster is a dessert that was created in 1951 at Brennan’s Restaurant in New Orleans Louisiana. It’s typically prepared table side and then flambe’d to create a dramatic effect. Bananas are sauteed in butter and brown sugar and then Rum is added to the pan and ignited to create the flambe’. !
