Melissa Sperka of Greensboro has been awarded a blue ribbon for her Bananas Foster Quesadilla recipe. The award came from Just A Pinch Recipes, a recipe and coupon social network for home cooks at

Sperka, who has won several awards from the company, said on the web site, “Bananas Foster is a dessert that was created in 1951 at Brennan’s Restaurant in New Orleans Louisiana. It’s typically prepared table side and then flambe’d to create a dramatic effect. Bananas are sauteed in butter and brown sugar and then Rum is added to the pan and ignited to create the flambe’. !
