ENGLISH PUB IS NOW OPEN

Real estate developer and restaurateur William Kotis II has opened his long-anticipated English Gastro Pub – The Marshall Free House. Located at 1211 Battleground Ave. in Greensboro, the restaurant is in a remodeled space formerly occupied by Pizzeria Uno and Rum Monkey. Kotis says The Marshall Free House will focus on craft and U.K.-style beer, craft cocktails and British-style food such as fish and chips. I’ve already been fortunate enough to try the Bread Pudding and it’s a blessing to behold.

WINE, DINE AND MUSIC SO FINE

Every Friday this summer, Stonefield Cellars is hosting Friday Flavors – a weekly concert series featuring local and regional musicians. The series starts June 6 with David Russell.

Everyone is invited to come out to 8220 N.C. 68 North, Stokesdale, for great music and food from Greensboro’s Burnin’ Wood Barbecue Company.There will also be beer and wine for sale. Just in time for summer, High Point home cook Cathy Tate’s Falling in Love with Okra and Corn! recipe has been awarded a blue ribbon at Just A Pinch Recipes, a recipe and coupon social network for home cooks at www.justapinch.

com. This is quite an honor considering only about 2 percent of the 150,000 recipes posted to the website have received this award. Tate is one of 260+ home cooks in the High Point area participating.
