Sabrina Willets and Lizz Giacomucci

With NC Gen Statute 14-184 (“If any man and woman, not being married to each other, shall lewdly and lasciviously associate, bed and cohabit together, they shall be guilty of a Class 2 misdemeanor.”) recently stricken from the books, it’s time for live-in lovers all over the state to celebrate. And while this week’s Page Three couple, Sabrina Willets (left) and Lizz Giacomucci, are in the process of shacking up after a six-month whirlwind romance, they still honor the letter, if not the spirit, of this outdated law. They’ll be sharing a space in the Whiskey District near the corner of Walker and Elam, where community standards are notoriously lenient. It is possible, however, that during the course of their cohabitation they may violate NC Gen. Statute 14-177, which puts their coupling on a par with raping a sheep – a class 1 felony. That law, by the way, is still enforceable.
