Things are once again moving apace in the Triad culinary scene, folks, starting with the news that Krankies Coffee has opened its online shopping cart at krankiescoffee., featuring mugs, grinders, drippers, presses and, naturally, some of that fabulous house-roasted coffee. I’m totally getting some this week.

Fincastle’s in downtown Greensboro will roll out its annual Throw Me Somethin’ Mister Mardi Gras Menu next week, but I just wanted to whet your appetite for all those great New Orleans classics courtesy of Jody Morphis. More on this soon.

A new restaurant is planned for Winston- Salem’s Nissen Building. One of the principals is Gregory Carlyle, from Gregory’s Bistro & Wine Bar and Michael’s Fine Dining.

And High Point lost a great burger joint when Char Grill shut its doors late last month.

On Saturday, the Greensboro Farmers Curb Market has heart screenings and healthy cooking demos. It’s shearing day at Rising Farm Meadows; to participate see or call 336.622.1795. Whole Foods in Winston-Salem holds a Valentine Party featuring chocolates, wine, flowers and all that other lovey-dovey crap.

Tuesday is Valentine’s Day — have I told you to make your reservations early? Like now? Try to be more on the ball than most Triad restaurants, almost none of which have sent me any details of their specials for this column, the last before the holiday. Those that did get special mention: Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar in Greensboro has a special menu, and will give you a $25 gift card if you order off it between Feb. 12-14. Make a reservation at Mozelle’s Fresh Southern Bistro has two seating’s on Tuesday night — 6 and 8 p.m. — and a fourcourse menu featuring lobster croquettes, veal osso bucco and pistachio halibut.
