Sometimes public officials are just plain lame

by Jim Longworth

Some presidents like Grant and Harding were judged harshly for the company they kept, while others, like Hoover was a victim of the times. Then there was Nixon and Clinton who created their own problems. Nixon violated the Democrats’ office, and Clinton violated an intern in his office.

But George W. Bush is the worst of them all.

He invaded Iraq even though the 9/11 terrorists came from Saudi Arabia, and he kept our troops in Iraq even after he knew there were no weapons of mass destruction.

He was late in rescuing victims of Katrina.

He has authorized illegal wiretaps of innocent people, and allowed thousands of others to be strip-searched in airports

He has allowed over 10 million Mexicans to sneak into our country illegally, and he is willing to let an Arab company run security for six of our major ports.

Last week after a GOP revolt, Bush said he didn’t actually know about the port deal until a few days before it was announced. Hard to believe given his family’s ties to the sheiks.

We lost 3,000 people on 9/ll and nearly that many more have been killed in Iraq. We still haven’t caught Osama, and now we’re ready to let the Saudis protect our ports.

Bush and Cheney might be lame ducks, but we cannot afford to let them serve out their terms.

That’s why I’m calling for both to be impeached.

These men are either corrupt liars or criminally stupid. Either way, it’s time to let Congress go duck hunting.
