by Ryan Snyder

DJ handle: TimePiece

What it means: it was given to me by a friend at TransformUs 2010.

Real name: Chris Tilley What I play: Drum and bass, drumstep, electrohouse Catch me at: Most frequently is Greene Street Club in Greensboro and Southland Ballroom in Raleigh.

Upcoming shows: Always Dirty at Southland Ballroom on Saturday, Boomsboro at Greene St Club on Tuesday, Nov. 27, Carol of the Bass at Blind Tiger on Dec. 23, and the Burn Neon Music Festival on the weekend of April 20, 2013.

Got in the: Beginning of this year around March when I was able to finally afford some equipment for myself.

Why I do it: Music has always been a huge part of my life, especially electronic music so it came naturally. Also being able to do things solo as opposed to having to coordinate three to five other bandmates and gear was a huge draw.

Influences: Excision, Dieselboy, John B, Downlink, PopEqrotiq, Lena Marie and all of the really awesome people I’ve met around the scene in NC.

First pro gig: Oct. 19, Dieselboy and Liquid Stranger at Greene Street.

Studio work: Still learning, tons of half-done tracks, but nothing noteworthy.

Favorite technique: Fast, aggressive mixing. Speeding track to track to really push energy high.

Signature mix: My liquid/future Drum n’ Bass set from the Dieselboy/ Liquid Stranger show.

Personal playlist: A lttle bit of everything. I appreciate almost all types of music, from classical to grindcore and everything in between.

My gear: For small events and personal use, I use my Numark N4 and laptop. I prefer Pioneer CDJs if they’re available however.

Website: Fanpage ‚—, Twitter —, Soundcloud — I’d like to add: Thanks to all my friends and family for being so supportive. Sugar Society and Noisy Dubs for taking me under their wings and allowing me the chance to meet some great people and learn a lot about the scene; the people at my job at Columbiana Hi-Tech for working with me so much to let me chase my dream and work around that hectic schedule. And all the other DJs out there fighting the good fight: Omnitrace, DarkLove, Soundgrave, Ghostnote, Madd Noize, all the Noisy Dubs  crew, Gon, Funk Junkie and so many others its impossible to list them all. Keep up the good work. Couldn’t have done it without you guys.
