Ten things to do for free, Nov. 12-18

by Dani Vanderboegh

Shiloh Hill

It’s been a long week and the weekend is calling. Every weekend there are the usual suspects in the way of activities: you can catch up on chores, you can hit the bars and you can always catch up on a little reading. But really, you can do all of those things in the dead of winter, which seems to be rapidly approaching now that it’s completely dark at 6 p.m. So instead of encouraging the norm or the boring, we’ve compiled some events around the Triad that are sure to be different and fun, not to mention free. If you have a group, head up to Geeksboro for board game night. If you want to soak up this last bit of warmth, head to Pilot Mountain State Park for a little astrology lesson. Or you could take in an art gallery or opera workshop and feel cultured. No matter what you choose, if you head to one of these events, post your pics on Facebook and tag YES! Weekly. Who knows, you might just win a prize.
