There are occasional live interviews.” Why I play it: “It’s a radio message in a bottle with music to match, join me with the day’s discovery of selected events and people through time… like a walk along the beach — the random mystery of what washes ashore. Carpe Diem! Make it a good day! Tune In! Carpe Diem’s format is to follow events, birthdays, deaths specific to the date of that particular show with short commentary and music conceptually linked.” Been in the biz: Three years Got in the biz: Through Mike Smith, a friend and longstanding community DJ at WQFS A good starter album: Dr. Dog — Fate Likes: “I’m always learning about new music and people. I try to spin the best tunes for my audience.” Favorite bands: Morphine, the Inbreds, the Pinker Tones, Mice Parade, Jets to Brazil, the Real Tuesday Weld, Sigue Sigue Sputnik, the Mountain Goats, Drive-By Truckers, God Lives Underwater, Andrew Bird, Terry Allen, Sufjan Stevens, Nick Drake, Tiny Vipers, the The, Taken By Trees, Super Furry Animals, the Decembrists and many more.
