Three New Salons Open to Make 29 Spa Options in Downtown Greensboro

Greensboro, N.C.Spa Creations DaySpa opened on March 3 at 335-B Martin Luther King Jr. Dr., in Southside Neighborhood, offering consultations and services for women, men, young children and teenagers. 

Owner and licensed aesthetician, manicurist instructor and eyelash extension artist, Araneetae Russ, moved her business to Downtown relocating from 1400 Battleground Avenue.  Prior to opening her Battleground location, Araneetae received her nail care training from Dudley‘s BeautyCollege and her skin care education from CosmeticArtCenter.

"I moved Downtown because I love the vibrancy of the area and was looking for a street-front location that I didn’t have before to showcase the spa’s unique services," says owner Araneetae Russ.

Range of spa offerings include "ManlyCures" for men for the hands and feet and custom facial services for smoothing, exfoliating and for treating in-grown hairs.  Custom packages for children are included in the Kids Corner with manicures and pedicures available.  The Teen Turf, aimed at youth 12-16 years of age, offers nail care, custom facials, acne treatments and light makeup consultations for at-home application.  Both men and women can benefit from a body wrap, a 30-minute to two-hour massages and women can receive eyelash extensions, brow tinting and makeup applications.  The spa also carries three makeup and skin care lines including Carol’s Daughter, Jane Iredale and Control Corrective Skincare.

Russ plans on expanding on her spa services by offering seasonal, outdoor massages on the enclosed patio of the spa starting in a couple of months.

"Customers can come to the spa and enjoy a relaxing massage only steps away from the action in the center of the city.  It will be a wonderful escape for people."

Jade & Co. Salon

AdaommaEdwardsopened Jade & Co. Salon on March 4 after moving the business from its Pyramids Village Blvd location a little over 1 year after opening.  Located in Southside Neighborhood at 333-B Martin Luther King Jr. Dr., the salon boasts its expertise in multicultural and multitextured hair. 

Salon services include hair cuts ranging from $8-$25 and up, coloring, hair relaxing services and conditioning treatments especially for all hair types and a particular specialization in non-chemically treated hair.

Edwards says "Women today want hair that is full of body and shine and I can provide that to them without using permanent processing methods."

The salon applies the Ceramic Phusion method that utilizes an ion blow dryer and ceramic flat iron to straighten and style hair of all textures.

Other salon services include hair removal on the face, arm, leg chest and bikini area and a wedding package with custom pricing for parties of six or more.

Prior to opening Jade & Co. Salon, Edwards attended Leon‘s BeautySchool to attain her cosmetology degree, and in 2005 received a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from North CarolinaA&TStateUniversity.  She explains moving Downtown as a thoughtful decision as she was employed at another Downtown salon, Profiles of Glory for 5 years.

"Moving Downtown was like coming home to me.  I have been in Greensboro for twenty years and when I found a location in Downtown that fit my space needs, it was just a good fit," Adaomma notes.

The Powder Room Day Spa
The Powder RoomDay Spa celebrated its grand opening at 111-E Paisley St., an office building in Downtown’s Northern section, on Saturday, March 21.  Focusing on skin care, owner Rashae Brown offers a variety of facials including the Lunch Hour facial lasting 25 minutes for $45, a Metro Man facial that includes a steamed towel treatment and scalp massage and two Teen facial treatments for normal and acne-prone skin.

A licensed aesthetician and graduate of Leon‘s BeautySchool in 2007, Brown gained experience working in an Express Salon at RaleighInternationalAirport and at a privately owned Downtown salon.  Within two years, Brown was able to realize her dream of owning her own salon in Downtown Greensboro.

Brown says "I have always wanted to own a salon focused on skin care and I love being Downtown and apart of all the action.  I found a great location off of Elm Street that allows me to network to the surrounding neighbors and grow my business."

The Powder Room Day Spa also offers Sweet Milk and Lavender facials, Back Therapy facials, waxing services, paraffin dips, glycolic peels and sunless tanning treatments.  Brown aspires to add makeup application to the menu soon.
