US Senate, Democratic runoff
Elaine Marshall and Cal Cunningham are headed to a run-off election on June 22. Neither candidate cracked the 40-percent mark needed to avoid a runoff. Marshall, the NC secretary of state, lead balloting with 36 percent of the vote, while Cunningham, an Iraq war veteran and former state senator, received 27 percent.
