College life will be starting back up soon, which means that you’re going to see all those pesky college kids riding their bikes around, crowding coffee shops, jay-walking in traffic, pretending to care about animal rights, snapping selfies in front of tragedy, trying to use fake-IDs, leaving trails of class papers wherever they go, clogging the bandwidth with Netflix streams, and generally acting like they own the world. We took a jab at some of the regulars, and we think we’re pretty spot-on. That’s not your cellphone ringing, kid, that’s the class bell.

Known for: Besides legendary basketball coach Clarence “Bighouse” Gaines, WSSU is known for producing successful graduates ready for 21st century challenges. A new Motorsports Management program is considered the first degree of its kind in the nation. WSSU graduates professionals ready for success in business and teaching professions, in addition to producing the third largest number of nurses in the state. The Diggs Gallery on campus is also recognized as one of the best contemporary African-American art galleries in the country.

Known for: GTCC graduates students in a variety of fields, including many who go on to careers in health care, culinary arts and aviation. A solid graphic arts program has placed many designers into successful careers in the Triad, and a new code and video game design curriculum positions GTCC for continued success in both workforce training and college placement.


High Point University

Known for: High Point University is pretty much the Club Med of higher education. The reason for the steep tuition is because there are so many luxurious amenities, including valet parking, multiple outdoor pools, live music, campus parking, airport transportation, laundry, tutoring, and even printing.


Guilford College

Known for: It’s quaint campus on the western edge of Greensboro continues to be a place where leaders emerge. Founded in 1837, it remains the only Quaker-founded college in the southeastern United States, but is now independent of formal ownership by any Quaker body. The school has an excellent reputation for inclusiveness and peace and justice advocacy, in addition to global engagement with the international community of students.

Known for: Being perpetually late to class due to auditions, leaving paint streaks on the desk from not-yet dried acrylics from previous art class, drinking enough coffee to caffeinate a small village, having the haircut that other girls look at as weird while also being simultaneously attractive to men who are too scared to talk to her, smoking cigarettes next to signs that say “No Smoking,” and playing music loud enough for everyone to hear and generally not giving a fuck. !
