Warren Buffet bought a chunk of Media General properties that included the Winston-Salem Journal, he would make some changes. Berkshire Hathaway’s World Media announced it would be laying off 105 people in the division, and the Journal took some of the brunt.

Arts writer Ken Keuffel and JournalNow Editor Michelle Johnson, both with more than 10 years of service, both left the paper last week — Johnson made a poignant farewell video that can be viewed on Vimeo. Susan Gilmore, who has been with the Journal for 20 years, has been named arts editor. — Brian Clarey
