Local CBS affiliate WFMY News 2 made waves this week when they announced the hiring of anchor Julie Luck, formerly of WGHP, the local Fox affiliate. Luck is beloved among Triad residents, especially YES! Weekly readers, who have voted her Best Local Anchor several times in our annual Triad’s Best issue. In the wake of the announcement, Luck did a press tour around local radio stations last week and even threw out the first pitch at the Grasshoppers home opener on April 11. Luck will join anchor Frank Mickens, spearheading the network’s deskfree News 2.0 format on the 5, 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts, starting on April 25. Luck replaces Tanya Rivera, who will host the new program “2 Wants to Know,” airing daily at 5:30 p.m. YES! Weekly wishes the best to the WFMY team during their transition period.
