Stay local: Go to Zack’s Frozen Treats in Kernersville for quality frozen yogurt at a great price.

It’s What’s for Dinner

I feel like once the temperature hits 70 degrees, my appetite vanishes. All winter long I walk around like a starving monster in sweatpants seeking my next meal, but as soon as I feel the warm May sunshine, I quickly turn into a hunger snob.

“I’m not hungry,” I say. “I just want to sip on iced coffees and just absorb nutrients from the air…or something.”

So this week, I took a break from typical restaurants, and I listened to my inner 10-year old.

“I want frozen yogurt for dinner,” I said out loud, to myself. Now that I pay my own bills, I am allowed to have frozen yogurt for dinner. Take THAT, parents!

After doing my research on the Triad’s best frozen yogurt places, I came across a place called “Zack’s Frozen Treats.” I don’t get to spend much time in cutesy Kernersville, so I decided this was where I should go.

I would first like to thank the sweet girl at Zack’s who was extremely patient with me. You see, when I look at a menu filled with everything in life that I love, it’s hard to make a decision.

Not only do they have a variety of unique flavors like marshmallow or cheesecake, but they also have classic favorites like chocolate and vanilla.

Zack’s does offer “fruity” flavors as well for those who prefer it.

Personally, I like my fruit and my frozen yogurt separately.

I also have to mention that Zack’s serves iced coffee in flavors like mocha and white mocha, and that made my decision even harder.

I now have a new rule because of Zack’s. The only time I will ever pass up an opportunity for iced coffee is if cheesecake flavored frozen yogurt is an available option.

After a well-thought out decision, I ordered the cheesecake flavored frozen yogurt. Then I had to decide what toppings I wanted.

Decisions, decisions.

Zack’s has a nice selection of toppings. Sometimes you go into ice cream shops, and you feel a little overwhelmed by all of the choices. Why do people need Skittles or 30 different flavors of sprinkles on their frozen yogurt?

Zack’s sticks to the basics. They give you what you need. I needed Reese’s cups and chocolate sprinkles. That’s it.

They do have syrups too, if you are interested. They have chocolate and peanut butter syrups as well as whipped cream and cherries to top it off.

They also let you build your own sundae, and for the people on-the-go, they do have a drive-thru.

My favorite part about Zack’s, other than the delicious frozen treat I had for dinner, was the experience I had at Zack’s.

There are a lot of frozen yogurt places in the Triad, and a lot of them are part of chains. Frozen yogurt chains usually make the customers do the work. Zack’s has a wonderful staff that does everything for its customers.

Zack’s is locally owned, and it has been going strong for more than two decades. They have mastered the art of friendly service and quality product in a way that makes the other frozen yogurt chains look like a waste of your time.
