ZIGGY’S PRESS RELEASE
ZIGGY’S PRESS RELEASE:Ziggy’s Winston Incorporated is proud to announce the opening of a new Ziggy’s in downtown Winston-Salem. Ziggy’s will be newly constructed on the corner of 8th and Trade St. in the Downtown Arts District. It is slated to open March 17, 2011. The original Ziggy’s was located on 433 Baity St. near WFU for 27 years. It provided a great venue for all types of musical acts from Hootie and the Blowwfish to Burning Spear to Bill Monroe. The property was bought up by a Wake Forest development group in November of 2007, leaving a void in the entertainment scene in town. After nearly a three year hiatus owner Jay Stephens put together a team of local developers and investors to bring back Ziggy’s. Charles Womack and Brad McCauley of YES! Weekly collaborated with Stephens to design a great entertainment space. Ziggy’s will have a Music Hall with a wrap around balcony and large stage. This space will be utilized 4 days a week and host live national bands, dance parties and special events. Capacity will be 1000 in the 14,000 sq. foot space. There will also be a smaller tavern style bar attached to the Music Hall that will be open 7 days a week from 11am to 2am. The tavern will have a great deck space that will be used to host local bands and Djs. Ziggy’s will also have two outdoor courtyards.
