WHEN COMICS MESS WITH YOU

“Doonesbury” creator Garry Trudeau has filed for this week’s series of strips illustrating excerpts from the new book The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin, an unauthorized biography of the former Alaska governor by Joe McGinniss, who moved next door to Palin in Wasilla to research it. But at least one newspaper has pulled the strips for the week — the Chicago Tribune, which says that because the strip includes excerpts from a book the Trib has neither reviewed nor verified, it does not meet the paper’s editorial standards. Instead they’re running “Thatababy,” a strip about young parents and their precocious infant.
