It’s a wonder that Salem College sophomore Tuula Perry can keep track of everything she’s involved in. On campus, she’s part of the Quad organization, the Salem Leadership Connection, the Rotaract Club and the CHANGE chapter. Perry works as an RA and at Willow’s Bistro, and will intern with the Red Cross in January. Plus she’s pursauing a double major in international relations and nonprofit management. On top of all that, Perry is passionate about bicycles. “I can’t even imagine owning a car,” said Perry, who grew up in Hawaii. “You appreciate the community you live in a lot more [when you bike].” As part of a class project, Perry has worked to increase communication between different bike groups in town, to promote bicycling to students and residents and to create a promotional video. She advocates for expansion of the greenways, bike lanes and bike safety, and plans to continue her work after the class ends.
