Big news: America has voted and the results are in — no, not talking about “American Idol” here, but Girl Scout cookies. Turns out we like Thin Mints the best, followed by Samosas, Tagalongs, Do-Si- Dos and Trefoils.

Taco Bell is adding breakfast to their menu in 750 stores in 10 states. TCBY now has root beer floats. Cold Stone Creamery has hot cookies and Outback has waffles. Eat up, fatty.

Locally, EarthFare has added Zingerman’s handmade candy bars to its stores. The Fresh Market now sells bloody Mary mix from McClure’s Pickles. And Miss Jenny’s Pickles in Kernersville has won a Good Food Award, one of four NC companies to do so this year.

Henry and Grandover — have earned four-diamond distinction from AAA.

And Jose Gomez of the High Point CiCi’s Pizza placed fourth overall in the chain’s Pizza Throwdown, and was named the competition’s fastest dough stretcher. For his talents he was awarded an iPod.

Friday sees a wine dinner at Undercurrent in Greensboro featuring wines from Solena Estate. Find more details at www.undercurrentrestaurant. com. There is also a cooking demo at the Greensboro Fresh Market featuring Thai curry beginning at 4 p.m.

But the big news is that Foothills Brewing releases its Sexual Chocolate Imperial Stout at the 4th Street brewpub. Saturday morning the bottles will be available beginning at 9 a.m. They’ll have biscuits and coffee for those waiting in line. Happens every year.

On Saturday, the Grove Winery releases its viognier. And the Greensboro Farmers Curb Market holds its Chili Challenge at 10 a.m. Costs $1 to vote on 8 different chilis, including one made by Greensboro City Council members Nancy Vaughan, Marikay Abuzuaiter and Jim Kee.

Downtown Winston-Salem’s Big Eat hits again on Tuesday, featuring halfpriced signature dished from your favorite restaurants. This week give Sweet Potatoes a try — they’ve got Mama’s meatloaf going for just $7 a plate. Tell ’em I sent you.
