Choosing a restaurant in Winston-Salem on Tuesday nights just got a bit more difficult. The initiative by the Downtown Winston-Salem partnership has been snowballing since its inception earlier this month and now includes more than 20 of the city’s finest institutions.
Here’s how it works: In an effort to showcase some of the city’s best restaurants and to drive some business in dark economic times, participating restaurants will offer their signature dishes for half price every Tuesday until the end of March. It sounds good on paper, but that gives restaurant fans just nine weeks to cover the bases. And not even I can eat that much. For most diners, the impulse is to hit favorite spots for good deals on tried-and-true delicacies, like the fish and chips at Foothills Brewery or Sweet Potatoes’ meatloaf.
