PLEASANT GARDEN HOME INVASION

Several men forced their way into a home on Ritters Lake Road on March 21, and forced a woman into another room, Guilford County Sheriff’s Office reports. The men began taking items from the house. The sheriff’s office has issued warrants for Keith Lamont Wall in connection with the home invasion, charging him with robbery with a dangerous weapon, first-degree kidnapping and first-degree burglary. Anyone with knowledge of this man’s whereabouts is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 336.373.1000.

ROBBERY OF ‘SOME IRRELEVANT ITEMS’

Caren Weiss was walking on New Garden Road near Ballenger Road in Greensboro when she said she was approached from behind by a Hispanic man with a gun. The man tried to grab Weiss’ purse, but she resisted. Police said the man was only able to get “some irrelevant items.” The man fled on foot. Firefighters at Station 18 witnessed the incident and came to Weiss’ aid. The robber is described as 20 years old, 5-10, 140 pounds and wearing a blue hooded jacket with a white headband. MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER IN WIFE’S DEATH

The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Winfred Scott Simpson and charged him with murder. On March 24, a Greensboro resident located a body near a walking trail at the end of Thurston Road. Detectives with the sheriff’s office determined that a description of the body matched that of Retha Simpson, who had been reported missing by her husband on the previous day. The detectives visited the home of the Simpsons and spoke to Winfred. The detectives reportedly discovered some “items of evidentiary interest” while speaking to Winfred that they used to obtain a search warrant. The search uncovered additional evidence, including blood, cleaning supplies, latent prints and impressions.

WINSTON-SALEM’S SECOND HOMICIDE

Winston-Salem police found 20-year-old Timothy Christopher Revel suffering from an apparent gunshot wound on the 1200 block of North Liberty Street at about 11:36 p.m. on March 27. Revel was taken to Baptist Hospital, where he later died. This is the second homicide to occur in Winston-Salem this year.
