New business created by airport

In light of reports of the Triad’s sluggish growth, one hopeful indicator is the launch of a new business, Hermes Airport Transportation, later this month to provide transportation services to and from Piedmont Triad International Airport. Mike Boakye, a Washington DC-area resident who is helping to manage the new venture, said the service will focus on ferrying customers to conferences and conventions. Boakye said he believes Hermes will be able to attract customers through competitive pricing, and will market its service through a website.

High Point University continues expansion High Point University

has announced plans to hire 108 new employees by August. The university said in a recent release that it has added 41 jobs in the past five months. A new school of health sciences, anticipated to open in 2014, is expected to create 60 to 70 new faculty positions.
