BOOKMARKS ANNOUNCES TERESA DAMPIER AS EMPLOYEE OF THE QUARTER
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (JUNE 5, 2018) — Bookmarks is pleased to announce that Teresa Dampier was named Employee of the Quarter from January – March 2018. Dampier works part-time as an associate for Bookmarks helping with training, event management, and book clubs.
“We’re so happy to have had Teresa with us for many years as a volunteer and now as a very valuable member of our staff,” Jamie Rogers Southern, Bookmarks Operations Director, said. “Teresa is always smiling and loves to talk about books.”
“Teresa is amazing!” added Beth Seufer Buss, Bookmarks Community Outreach and Facilities Manager. “She has been instrumental in managing our registered book club program and Little Free Library donation program.”
A member of her own book club for over 20 years, Dampier has volunteered with Bookmarks for nine years, serving on the Planning Committee and helping with various programs, fundraisers, and events. In July, Bookmarks hired her to work in its new home. Dampier worked for 35 years as a Medical Technologist at Novant Health and retired in 2014. She served as a tutor at Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools for five years, and helps with the ongoing book sale through Friends of the Reynolda Library. She and her husband, Doug, also help with maintaining the Penelope Niven Memorial Garden at Bookmarks.
Bookmarks is a literary arts nonprofit organization that fosters a love of reading and writing in the community. The programming connects readers with authors and books and is achieved through the largest annual book festival in the Carolinas to be held September 6–9, 2018; an Authors in Schools program, which reaches 9,000 students annually; and year-round events in their gathering space and nonprofit independent bookstore that opened July 8, 2017.
