The best and worst of Triad area police blotters, as compiled by David McGee Home-invasion robbery Winston-Salem police responded to a home invasion and shooting report at 280 Vista Court on Halloween day. Upon arrival they found Brian Simington, 32, had been shot once in the upper back/ chest area. It was reported that four or five black men dressed in black or dark clothing kicked in the front door of the residence where the victim’s wife and 12-year-old child were also present but unharmed. The suspects were last seen running toward Shattalon Drive. The case is still under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 336.727.2800.

Citgo robbery

Greensboro police received a call about a robbery of the Citgo at 2204 E. Wendover Ave. on Oct. 28. Upon arrival they were informed that a black man between 18 and 20 years old, 5’5” and 140 pounds wearing a Carolina Panthers coat entered the Citgo and demanded money at gunpoint. The man received an undisclosed amount of cash and was last seen traveling south on Raleigh Street. in a green or white vehicle. Cameron One Stop robbery

Winston-Salem police responded to a call of armed robbery at 1118 Thurmond St. of the Cameron One Stop convenience store by three black men in their early twenties between 5’7” and 5’10” on Oct. 26. Upon entering the business one of the men revealed a handgun and robbed the owner, Sank Cameron, 60, of an undisclosed amount of money, snacks and cigars. The three men fled on foot to the intersections of Thurmond and Row streets where they got away in a dark colored van. Attempted robbery

Greensboropolice responded to a report of attempted robbery at 1725 Walker Ave.of a Papa John’s delivery driver on Oct. 29. Upon arrival the victimreported that he parked his vehicle in an apartment complex and wasapproached by a black male around 5’5”, 130 pounds in a camouflagehoodie with a handgun. The driver grabbed the suspect’s arm and astruggle developed leading to a round being fired into a parked car.The suspect then fled the scene in a silver Acura with tinted windows.The case is still under investigation and anyone with information isasked to call Crimestoppers at 336.373.1000.
