Armed robbery Winston-Salem police showed up at the University Parkway BP on Jan. 2 after receiving a report of armed robbery on Jan. 2. A clerk had been approached by a heavyset black woman with a medium complexion who made the clerk think she had a weapon and demanded money. The clerk complied and the woman left with an undisclosed amount of money. She was last seen walking south towards the Sundance Hotel. The investigation is ongoing. School teacher arrested for sex offense Guilford county sheriff’s deputies arrested schoolteacher Harold Robert Grant Jr., 58, on sex offender violations on Dec. 29. Grant has been charged with four counts of indecent liberties with a child, one count of second-degree sex offense, one count of crime against nature and one count of felony child abuse-sexual act. Grant’s arrest stems from an investigation of alleged crimes occurring from February 1993 to December 2001. He was held under a $100,000 bond.

Former Forsyth County deputy arrested for sex offense Brian Daniel Barker has been charged with solicitation of a minor by computer to commit an unlawful sex act following a sting operation in which an undercover deputy posed online as a 13-yearold girl. Barker had been chatting online with the deputy since June 2009 and was arrested on Dec. 29 without incident after arriving at a pre-arranged undisclosed location. Barker was held on a $15,000 bond in the Guilford County Jail.
