SUSPECTED BANK ROBBER FOUND IN DAVIE COUNTY JAIL
Winston-Salem police detectives served a warrant on Michael James Dolphin, who was jailed in the Davie County Detention Center, on Jan. 13. Dolphin is scheduled to go to trial in Forsyth County Court in Feb. 5. The Winston-Salem Police Department described a Nov. 5 robbery at Bank of America on Hanes Mall Boulevard. A 200-pound man with a full beard who was wearing dark sunglasses, a baseball cap and a red bandanna handed a note to a teller demanding money. The man was reportedly seen running across the parking lot with an undisclosed amount of money at Pavilions Shopping Center.
WOMAN REPORTEDLY RAPED
Winston-Salem police officers appeared at the emergency room at Forsyth Memorial Hospital in response to a reported rape just after noon on Sunday. A woman reported that she was raped by three acquaintances described as Hispanic men in their early twenties in the early morning hours at the Sundance Plaza Hotel. The woman’s injuries are characterized as minor.
CONVENIENCE STORE ROBBED
Two black men reportedly walked into the 3 Girls Convenience Store on Northampton Drive in Winston-Salem at about 7:45 p.m. on Sunday at a time when there were no other customers around. The older of the pair was said to have pointed a silver semiautomatic handgun at owner Adnan Assaf and his friend, Khader Kharbat. The two robbers fled the store with cash. They were tracked by a police K9 unit to the intersection of New Walkertown Road and Northampton Drive before the trail went dead.
