Greensboro police responded to a call regarding a suspect in possession of a “gasoline bomb” at the 2000 block of Maywood Street at about 2:15 p.m on June 23. The suspect allegedly threatened to throw the bomb on a person. Timothy Lee Thompson, 31, was arrested and charged with possession of an incendiary device. One device was lit and thrown and a second device was located at the scene but never ignited. The hazardous device team responded and disposed of the device safely. No one was injured.


Winston Salem police responded to a shooting at the 4600 block of South Main Street at about 9 p.m. on Sunday. At the scene the officers located Corey Torain, 24, of Burlington, and Tyrell Wheeler, 25, of Rural Hall, suffering from gunshot wounds. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene. There are no suspects at this time. These are the fourth and fifth homicides in Winston-Salem this year. LaKendrick Lamont Watts, 33, was shot while driving on the 2500 block of High Point Road the same night as SuperJam at about 4:20 a.m, June 26. As a result of the shooting, Watts lost control of his vehicle and was involved in a crash at the intersection of High Point Road and Ellington Street. Watts was taken to Moses Cone hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The investigation into the homicide is on going. Winston-Salem police responded to a robbery at the Hospital BP on West 1 st Street at about 4:20 p.m. on Sunday. The suspect entered the store and demanded money. The suspect never brandished a weapon but took an undisclosed amount of currency from the till and fled on foot. There were no injuries. Two suspects broke into the Snack and Soda Shop #4 on of Browns Summit Road in Guilford County at about 1 a.m. on June 16. The men stole an undetermined amount of cigarettes once inside. The suspects are described as a white male wearing a dark blue or black sweatshirt and white and blue baseball cap and a black male wearing jeans and a dark blue or black hooded coat. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 336.373.1000. CrimeStoppers will pay up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest or indictment.
