CORPSE FOUND IN ADAMS FARM
The body of 22 year old Marc Elliot Dyer was found on Adams Farm Parkway in Greensboro by a passerby on July 30. An autopsy conducted at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill determined the manner of Dyer’s death was homicide, but the cause of death remains unknown.
RAPE CASE RESOLVED
After 20 years Winston-Salem police have identified and jailed a suspected rapist. A Piedmont Bible College student was forcibly raped in her dorm room between 5 and 6 a.m. on May 18, 1990. The case remained unsolved until September 2009 when a review of cold cases was conducted. The review led to a DNA examination of the evidence that determined the suspect’s identity as Ronald Delane Williams, who was at the time incarcerated in Caswell County on a separate rape charge. Williams was put into custody in Forsyth County on July 28 on warrants for first-degree rape and first-degree burglary. Williams’ bond is set at $250,000.
ARRESTS MADE FOR BURNED PUPPY
Four arrests were made on July 30 in the case of Phoenix, the puppy found with burns on half of its body on July 19. Of the four suspects 17-year-old Harvey Gales is the only non-juvenile. Two of the other three people charged are 15 years old and one is 10. Gales was charged with felony cruelty to animals, felony burning of personal property and felony conspiracy to harm personal property. The two 15-year-olds were charged on a secure custody order and the 10-year-old was charged and released to a parent. Police believe that Phoenix’s former owner, Juan Gonzalez, was absent at the time of the incident and is currently out of the country.
GOTTA, WANNA, NEED-TA, HAVE-A…
The Bojangles on North Patterson Avenue in Winston-Salem was robbed at gunpoint on Sunday at about 11 p.m. According to Winston- Salem police, a black male in dark clothing and a dark mask entered the restaurant and demanded money. The man obtained an undetermined amount of money and after exiting the restaurant discharged a handgun. No one was injured during the incident.
