Greensboro police officer involved in shooting

A man brandishing a gun was shot by Greensboro police at about 5:20 a.m. on Aug. 21 near the 4900 block of Tower Road. Police arrived on the scene at about that time and found David Mcmillan Watkins Jr., 40, armed with a hand gun. According to police, officers ordered Watkins to drop the gun numerous times and he did not comply. The man proceeded to point the gun at the officers leading them to open fire. Watkins was pronounced dead at the scene. The state Bureau of Investigations, or SBI, was summoned and will handle the investigation of the incident. Homicide and arrest in Greensboro

Marcello lorenzo Williams, a 39-year-old man, was found by Greensboro police suffering from multiple bleeding wounds in an apartment on east Wendover Avenue. Williams was transported to Moses Cone hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police discovered that Williams had been in a physical altercation with McDaniel Brayboy Jr., 44, and Williams injuries were a result. Brayboy was charged with first degree murder. Pharmacy robbed in Winston-Salem

A man entered a Rite Aid pharmacy on Reynolda Road and presented an attendant with a note indicating he had a gun and wanted pharmaceutical pills at about 5:30 p.m. on Sunday. The clerk gave the man, described as a 6 foot, 3 inch, white male of about 175 pounds, wearing a construction hat, an undisclosed amount of pills. The suspect fled in an older model white compact car driven by a white man wearing a dark blue shirt and sunglasses. Dead body Found in Guilford County

A dead body was found about 50 yards away from Hines Chapel Road in Mcleansville at about 9:30 a.m. on Monday. The victim, who has not been identified, appeared to have suffered from gunshot wounds, pending the results of an autopsy. A homicide investigation is underway.

Armed robbery in Greensboro

A man hopped the counter of the kangaroo station on Pleasant Garden Road and held a knife to the clerk and demanded money from the register at about 2 p.m. on Aug. 18. The attendant complied and the man grabbed money from the register and fled on foot. A canine search led to the Pleasant Garden Road and Industrial Drive area, where it appeared the suspect got into a vehicle and fled. The suspect is described as a 5 foot, 4 inch, black man in his fifties with a graying beard. He was last seen with a mask over his face, wearing a blue sweatshirt and was barefoot.
