HOMICIDE AND ARREST IN WINSTON-SALEM

Winston-Salem police found a dead body off of Tenafaire Drive at about 3 p.m. on Sunday. An autopsy identified the victim as Rachel Louise Messick of Reynolda Road, and the cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head. At around midnight on Monday police arrested James Michael Watson, 42, in Morganton and charged him with first degree murder in the incident. Watson is currently being held in Forsyth County jail with no bond. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 336.727.2800.

BANK ROBBERY AND ARREST IN GREENSBORO

A man robbed the First Citizens bank on Elm Street at about 9:15 a.m. on Sept. 9. Later that day at about 4 p.m. Greensboro police arrested Donald Johnson, 51, of Spencer Street, without incident at the corner of Market and Gillespie streets and charged him with common law robbery. ARREST FOR BREAKING AND ENTERING IN HIGH POINT

Guilford County sheriffs arrested Ernest Eli Cook, 24 of High Point, on Sept. 8 in a High Point parking garage on 32 warrants with more charges pending. Cook’s arrest was the result of a month-long investigation into a string of break-ins into residences, vehicles and outbuildings that occurred throughout northwest Guilford County. Cook is in High Point jail under a $100,00 bond.

DEAD INFANT FOUND IN WINSTON-SALEM

Winston-Salem police discovered the deceased body of an infant in a blue storage bin at Planned Parenthood on Maplewood Avenue at about 7 a.m. on Sept. 11. The infant was a white female and the cause of death is pending an autopsy. Anyone with  information about this incident is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 336.727.2800.

FIGHTING AND STABBING AT GREENSBORO BAR

David Acosta Landin, 41, and his brother Octavio Acosta Landin, were both charged with assault with a deadly weapon as the result of an incident at the Carolina Mexican Bar and Kitchen on Seneca Road at about 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. According to reports, the Landins were harassing women at the bar and were escorted from the bar by security. While being escorted off of the premises, David smashed a beer bottle through the glass door and pulled out a knife and stabbed a security guard, Jose Coronado Romero, in the back. Octavio went to the brothers’ vehicle and retrieved several pipes that he used to assault the security guards. Eventually the security guards were able to subdue the brothers until police arrived. Octavio also was charged with intent to kill. No bond has been set for the Landins at this time.
