PLEASANT GARDEN WOMAN ARRESTED FOR BOYFRIEND’S MURDER
Guilford County sheriffs have arrested Helen Kay Sparks for the murder of her boyfriend, Clifford Darrel Wright, 44, of Pleasant Garden. On Aug. 25 deputies found Wright lying in the parking lot of 496 East Highway 62. Further investigation resulted in the discovery of blood and hair in Sparks’ car. Wright remained in critical condition at Moses Cone hospital until he died on Sept. 15. Sparks was arrested for firstdegree murder and is currently being held in Guilford County jail with no bond.
ROBBERY AT HIGH POINT ROAD BAR PARKING LOT
A man told Greensboro police that he was armed at gunpoint in the parking lot of BG McGee’s at 4701 High Point Road at about 12:30 a.m. on Sunday. The suspects are both described as five-foot, 10-inch black males, both armed with handguns, one wearing a gray shirt at the time of the incident. The suspects were last seen in a gray sport-utility vehicle with South Carolina plates.
ARMED ROBBERY IN WINSTON-SALEM
A man walked into the Citgo Exprezit on Old Walkertown Road at about 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 18, pointed a semi-automatic handgun at the clerk and left with an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect, described as five-feet, 10 inches with a slender build and wearing a red hat with a black scarf covering his face, a white T-shirt, blue jeans and red Nikes, then fled the scene on foot behind the business. A K-9 search was conducted but the suspect was not located.
MYSTERIOUS STABBING IN GREENSBORO
Greensboro police responded to Moses Cone hospital in reference to a stabbing at about 2:45 a.m. on Sept. 19. The 23-year-old victim stated that he was at a party in an unknown neighborhood off of West Market Street when he realized that he had been stabbed. The victim arrived at Moses Cone in a private vehicle and was uncooperative with officer’s attempting to obtain a description of a suspect.
