Greensboro police arrested Richard and Susan lonta at their Wetherburn Way residence at about 5:15 p.m. on Dec. 1 when they discovered 103 marijuana plants and growing paraphernalia in their home. The Iontas were charged with possession, manufacture and maintaining a dwelling for use of a controlled substance.

Arrest made in string of Greensboro robberies

Kendall Rasheed Williamson Carpenter, 24, of Reidsville, was charged with six counts of armed robbery that occurred between Oct. 27 and Nov. 30. Carpenter was apprehended after a foot chase when he left the scene of an armed robbery at the Family Dollar on West Meadowview Road in Greensboro on Nov. 30. Carpenter was also implicated in the Oct. 27 and Nov. 8 robberies of the Family Dollar on East Market Street, the Oct. 29 robbery of the Shell on East Market Street, the Nov. 16 robbery of the University Mart on Warren Street and the Nov. 18 robbery of the Family Dollar on Lees Chapel Road. Carpenter has also been charged with one residential break-in on English Street on Nov. 14. Carpenter is being held in Guilford County jail under a $1 million bond.

Armed robbery in Winston-Salem

The Tienda Juan Diego on Peters Creek Parkway was robbed at gunpoint at about 10 p.m. on Dec. 1. The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of money and fled the scene on foot. The suspect is described as 25-to-30-year old black man, approximately 5 feet 8 inches to five feet ten inches tall, 170 to 180 pounds, wearing a black leather jacket and a brown hooded sweatshirt at the time of the incident.

Robbery at Greensboro ATM

Rodney Brasley, 51 of Greensboro, told police he was held at gunpoint and robbed at the ATM machine of the Bank of America on East Bessemer Avenue at about 10:45 p.m. on Dec. 2. Brasley was withdrawing money when a man, described as black, in his twenties, wearing a tan hoodie and armed with a handgun took his money and fled in a white sedan.
