HIT-AND-RUN SUSPECT IDENTIFIED
Winston-Salem police identified the suspect of a hit and run that left a man dead along US Highway 421 near Peace Haven Road. Charges were filed against Kaitlin Smith Slater, 24, for the vehicular murder of Trevor Spencer Prough on Mar. 4. Slater’s bond is set at $125,000 and her first court appearance is Mar. 18.
MAN DIES FROM SELF-INFLICTED GUNSHOT WOUND
Guilford County Sheriffs deputies arrived at the residence of Ryan Joseph Gohn to serve multiple warrants around 10:30 p.m. on March 3. Upon knocking on Gohn’s door, deputies reported that a gunshot was heard followed by a woman screaming. Police entered to find Gohn dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound while the woman was unharmed. Gohn had several outstanding warrants for his arrest that included three counts of firstdegree rape of a child, three counts of first-degree sex offense of a child and one count of indecent liberties with a minor.
GREENSBORO BB&T ROBBED BY BUSINESS CASUAL CULPRIT
Greensboro police reported that an armed suspect entered the BB&T on Battleground Avenue and demanded money on March 2. The suspect was described as a white man, about 40 years old and last seen wearing a black blazer, a white shirt and sunglasses. Nobody was harmed during the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
ATTEMPTED ROBBERY FOILED BY HARD TIMES?
Greensboro police responded to Beacon at Wendover Apartments after an attempted robbery call on March 4. The victim told authorities that the two armed suspects tried to rob her and then fled in an older white Chevrolet work van after she stated she didn’t have any money. No property was lost and the victim was unharmed.
