SUNTRUST BANK ON SUMMIT AVE ROBBED
Police responded to a robbery call at Suntrust Bank on Summit Avenue in Greensboro at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The unarmed suspect, described as an older man, was unarmed, and escaped on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. He fled in an unknown direction and police do not have a suspect yet.
PAIR STEAL CAB AND CASH, CRASH CAR
In the early morning hours of Aug. 25, a Blue Bird taxi driver picked up a male and female passenger on Wind Road in Greensboro, only to be surprised when they both pulled out guns and demanded money and the vehicle. The taxi was later found empty, crashed into a tree on Lees Chapel Road. The investigation is ongoing.
ADAMS FARM PARKWAY SHOOTING SUSPECT ARRESTED IN MARYLAND
Twenty four-year old Bonrick Lee Barksdale was arrested on Aug. 26 in Maryland in connection with a shooting on Adams Farm Parkway in Greensboro two days earlier. Barksdale was charged with robbery, kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill. He is the process of being extradited to North Carolina.
SUSPICIOUS DEATH DECLARED HOMICIDE
Michael L. Banks Jr., 38, was found dead in his home on Aug. 22 on Webster Road in Greensboro. Two days later, an autopsy report declared homicide to be the cause of death. Police already considered his death suspicious due to the position of the body and the items around it. Police arrested Marquis Quinzel Mack, 29, who was Banks’ neighbor, and Jean Joseph Brewster, 31, of Reidsville, and charged them both with murder. The two were also charged with burning of personal property by the Rockingham County Fire Marshal’s Office.
