6-year-old dies of gunshot wounds
The Forsyth County Medical Examiner’s office has determined that a 6-year-old girl, Iza Lily Morris, died of multiple gunshot wounds and her father Derek Morris, 32, died of a single, selfinflicted gunshot wound to the head. Winston- Salem police officers discovered the girl and her father upon arrival at their residence in the 5300 block of Old Rural Hall Road. Winston- Salem police detectives determined that Morris was estranged from his wife, Iza Morris’s mother. Their investigation produced no evidence or information to indicate that any other parties were involved in deaths of Derek Morris or his daughter. The investigation remains ongoing at this time. Hawthorne Pharmacy hold-up
Winston-Salem police officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at Hawthorne Pharmacy in the 1600 block of Hawthorne Road on Nov. 11. Witnesses informed officers that a white male suspect, age 40-45, 5-8 in height and weighing145 pounds brandished a black semi-automatic handgun, and demanded narcotics, specifically Oxycodone and morphine. After being given several bottles of narcotics, the suspect was given several bottles of the narcotics. The suspect, who was reportedly wearing a green and gray sweatshirt with a baseball cap and blue jeans, fled the business on foot traveling south on Hawthorne Road. Man arrested in Carolinas Diner robbery
Greensboro police have arrested Christopher Dean Altis and charged him with robbery after an early-morning incident at Carolinas Diner on South Regional Road on Nov. 2. Upon arrival, witnesses informed officers that a white male suspect, age 20-25, 5-8 in height, weighing approximately 150 pounds, entered the business as a customer. He told the cashier he had a gun and demanded money from the register. Altis allegedly took the undisclosed amount of cash and fled the business on foot. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Drive-by shooting on Grove Street
Greensboro police responded to a shooting call in the 1300 block of Grove Street on Nov. 6. Upon arrival, witnessed told police that several people were standing on the front porch of a home when a car drove by and the shooting began. Two of the victims were struck by bullets and transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police did not get a suspect description.
