Police seize 46 kilos of cocaine in raid
Winston-Salem police executed a search warrant on a house on Redbud Lane in early November based on the findings of a joint investigation with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, the US Homeland Security Department and NC Alcohol Law Enforcement. During the raid, police seized 45.5 kilos of cocaine valued at $4.6 million, $320,000 in US currency, 108 grams of heroin valued at $26,250 and a handgun. 20-year-old Abel Hernandez was arrested and charged with trafficking cocaine. He was held on a $5 million bond. The release of information about the bust was delayed to allow the investigation to continue.
Men accused in murder caught in Florida
Greensboro police announced on Dec. 2 that they have arrested Kelly Alonzo Walker, 39, a Maywood Street resident, for the murder of his neighbor and acquaintance, 33-year-old Daniel Cory Jones, who was found dead in his apartment on Nov. 28. Walker was charged with firstdegree murder and held in the Guilford County jail without bond. On Dec. 3, 22-year-old Justin Dupree McMillan and 31-year-old Fernando Santana were arrested during an unrelated traffic stop in Miami based on outstanding warrants by the Greensboro Police Department for Jones’ murder. McMillan and Santana reside in Greensboro, and police do not know when they left for Florida. They are being held in the Dade County Jail pending extradition back to North Carolina.
Not the usual suspects
Charles Dick, 71, who lives on McConnell Road in Greensboro, said his neighbor, 47-year-old Agnes Louise Parker, came over to use his telephone with another woman in the early evening on Sunday. Parker reportedly used force on Dick to get his wallet, and the two women left. Dick was not injured. The police have issued warrants for Parker for robbery and simple assault.
