Deadline Approaching for John Coltrane Jazz Workshop
The deadline to register for the 17th Annual John Coltrane Jazz Workshop is coming up on June 30. This year’s workshop will take place at Penn-Griffin School for the Arts between July 23 – 26. All rising 7th – 12th graders with at least one year of experience on an instrument are eligible to apply for the workshop.
Led by Wally West, Administrative Director and member of the Piedmont Triad Jazz Orchestra and the Director of Jazz Studies at Gardner-Webb University, this year’s faculty for the John Coltrane Jazz Workshop will include jazz artists who teach and perform all across the state of North Carolina. Students will get the chance to perform in various ensembles and will also learn jazz theory and history each day. The registration fee for the John Coltrane Jazz Workshop is $100, which includes four days of instruction, a complimentary midmorning snack, and a workshop t-shirt.
