Eighteen great Triad parties to ring in 2018
1. Boxcar Arcade + Bar
Spend the last moments of 2017 playing Pac-Man and popping Champagne bottles at Boxcar Arcade + Bar. There will be $1 mimosas, $10 Champagne bottles and $5 craft drafts. Come early and score two free tokens with every drink purchase from noon to 7 p.m. and stay for the countdown to 2018.
2. Crooked Tail Cat Cafe
Ring in the Mew Year with kitties! From 10 p.m. until midnight join Crooked Tail Cat Cafe on New Year’s Eve and spend the last moments of 2017 with a cat. We know, we know 2018 is technically the Year of the Dog, according to the Chinese New Year. But, at the Crooked Tail, there will be a Champagne toast and a photo booth. When the clock strikes midnight, there will also be a kitty ball drop. The cafe will be decked out in cat decorations with cat-friendly party favors. This event is 21 years and up and bring-your-own-beer and wine, but liquor is not allowed.
3. The Idiot Box
Spend the last hours of 2017 laughing your ass off at The Idiot Box’s New Year’s Eve Comedy Bash! The Idiot Box will be featuring stand up comedy, improv, and karaoke. 4. Boston’s House of Jazz & Blues
Own the night on New Year’s Eve at Boston’s House of Jazz & Blues! Eat, drink, dance, mingle and enjoy New Year’s Eve with live music from Somethin For Tha People. There will be Soulfood plates for $10, two fully stocked bars, a large dance floor, patio and a mature crowd. New Year’s Eve attire is strictly enforced. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show starts at 10 p.m. Admission is $20, and VIP admission is $30. Reserved table seating and reserved VIP booth seating can be purchased at Boston’s House Of Jazz. 5. The Blind Tiger
Party with House of Fools and special guests The Old Heavy Hands and Garret Clemens at The Blind Tiger this New Year’s Eve! 6. The W on Elm
Send 2017 off in style at The W on Elm’s New Year’s Eve Ball. There will be live music up and downstairs. Ticket price includes hor d’oeuvres, dessert bar, Champagne, cash balloon drop, and a late night breakfast menu available from 1 a.m. until 3 a.m. This is a formal and black tie event, dress accordingly. 7. Westerwood Tavern
Enjoy the end of 2017 at your friendly neighborhood Westerwood Tavern, where Champagne will be a-plenty. There will be 2018 decorations, good vibes, and even a featured drink: The Westerwood Sunset, (Sauza Blanco tequila, orange simple syrup, a dash of elderflower liqueur and topped with soda water). Personally, I will be welcoming 2018 at this special, little bar.
8. Little Brother Brewing
Come ring in the New Year at Little Brother Brewing! For a $7 cover, starting at 8 p.m., according to the Facebook event page, Little Brother Brewing is happy to announce that it will have a “fun, rocking band from Lexington, North Carolina, called Rude City Project visiting again. In addition to some killer tunes, your $7 cover will include a first edition Little Brother Brewing pint glass and a champagne toast at midnight. “We are excited to enjoy the last day of the 2017 with a bang and hope you join us.”
1. Millenium Center
Don’t miss one of the biggest New Year’s Eve parties of the Triad. The New Year’s Eve Gala at The Millenium Center. The Gala starts at 10 p.m. and will go all the way to 2 p.m. There is complimentary parking at 6th/Cherry Street parking garage. The dress code for the Gala is cocktail attire and will be a 21 years and up event only. There will be a photographer taking 4×6 photos of your group as well as craft beers, wine and premium liquor options. The bar is cash only and bring your own party favors. Tickets cost $30 for advance general admission and it includes a glass of Champagne and the late night breakfast buffet. 2. Reboot Arcade
Want to win a trip for two to Mexico? Spend New Year’s Eve at Reboot Arcade and be entered for a chance to win. According to the Facebook event page, all guests will receive a raffle ticket for a free trip for two to your choice of Cancun, Cabo San Lucas or Puerto Vallarta for eight days and seven nights with their admission and the drawing will take place at 1 a.m., and you must be present to win. Rad drink specials, a Champagne toast, and DJ Zboy will be at this New Year’s Eve party you do not want to miss! This party is 21 years old, and up and after 9 p.m. there is a cover of $5. “Arcades, pinball, skeeball, DJs, Champagne, Mexico…seriously where else would you rather be?!?!?”
3. Johnny & Junes
Don’t miss another one of the biggest parties in Winston-Salem, The Johnny & June’s New Year’s Eve Bash. With over 1,000 people “interested” in the event on Facebook, “there won’t be a better way to bring in the new year than partying with us,” Upchurch The Redneck, Demun Jones and one of the best DJs in the country DJ Cliffy D. 4. The Garage
“Out with the old and in with the new” is usually the motto for this time of year. But saying goodbye to The Garage is going to be tough for Triad music lovers. The Garage (as we know it) will hold a final show for New Year’s Eve and will feature The Genuine with performances by Tyler Nail, Victoria Victoria, Gunnar Nagle, and Companyon. The Final Show will start at 9 p.m. and go until 1 a.m.“Viva The Garage!”
5. Foothills Brewing
Celebrate Brew Year’s Eve at Foothills Brewing! Dance to 2017’s hottest music, see what 2018 has in store for you from the brewery’s gypsy fortune teller, and raise your champagne glass as we count down to Winston-Salem’s biggest ball drop from the brewery’s 40-foot ceiling. From 8 p.m. until 1 p.m. there will be hats, noisemakers, and goofy glasses you’ll need to look your best in 2018. Plus The Slanted Shed food truck will be here to feed you. Foothills’s one request? Dress up! Show up looking formal and fancy. You can spend all New Year’s Day in sweatpants. Tag any pictures or mentions with #FoothillsBrewYearsEve.
Check out the Shokunin Ramen pop-up at Monstercade on New Years Eve! All ramen bowls cost $10 and come with nori sheets, chopped scallions, and a 66° egg. Our styles of ramen to choose from will include: Kumamoto style ramen; pork tonkatsu with Mayu, topped with fatty pork cheek and garlic chips; Tokyo style ramen; a Duck and Dashi blend with house-made togarashi, topped with catfish kamaboko and a seasonal vegetables; Sapporo style ramen; a smoked vegetable and miso ramen with kimchi tare, topped with sliced traditional daikon and a seasonal vegetable. Vegans/vegetarian, gluten-free, and other food allergies easily available as well. 7. Winston-Salem Fairgrounds
Join the Fairgrounds and the Carolina Thunderbirds and ring in 2018! Following the Thunderbird Home Game the Ice Rink will open to the public to skate in the New Year. Admission is $7, and Skates are $3. Those in attendance at the game will receive free Ice Admission. At midnight, the Thunderbirds will drop a Puck from the rooftop. There will be concessions open, music, and a T.V. will be available for the WXII 12 NEWS Time Square Ball Drop.
High Point/ Jamestown
1. Sidelines Sports Grill
Come ring in the New Year, Harlem Nights style, at Sidelines Sports Grill. Major Payne will host this last party of the year, and $7 gets you in the door with a midnight buffet and shot toast. Everyone is encouraged everyone to dress up and participate in a 1930s era costume contest. The party starts at 9 p.m. and ends at 2 a.m.
