Raleigh alt-rockers Vintage Fresh hit up the Blind Tiger on Thursday, while Patrick Rock plays Fisher’s Grille. Plenty to hear outside these days and over in Winston- Salem, Possum Jenkins and Wyndy Trail Travelers are this week’s Alive After Five in Corpening Plaza.

Staying in Corpening Plaza, Friday night offers Downtown Jazz with Terrence Young, and bluesman Big Ron Hunter and jazz artist Diana Tuffin celebrate one year of StoryLine at the Salem Fine Arts Center. Back in Greensboro, A Brand New Life and Urban Sophisticates team up for First Friday in Center City Park. The show to see this weekend, however, is by Songs of Water at Studio B (see album reviews). The Old Time Society jams at the Flatiron, while Walrus with Doby take on the Blind Tiger. Over at Greene Street Club, Models & Bottles offers a bunch of unattainable women and the slimy dudes they attract. There’s music and magic at the Wherehouse, as Matthew Schwartz of Pacifico performs solo acoustic with Dear Kavalier. Good name or Great name? Either way, Mabe, Dunn, Goode gets together with the Nawlins Boys for a show at the Garage.

Summer on Trade kicks off Saturday with West End Mambo in Winston-Salem, while country-rockers Swampdawamp boogie at Arizona Pete’s, and Al Neese and Scott Adair play jazz at the Flatiron. The Blind Tiger has a double header with an early show by Mark Kano and Claire Holley and Allman Brothers tribute Allman Extract doing the late show.

On Sunday, the Tired and True play Arts by Alexander in High Point and no, that’s not a typo. Over at the Flatiron, see if you can identify John Doe & the Runners.

A full Tuesday starts at the Blind Tiger with the Hot Seats, formerly known as Special Ed & the Short Bus. Skylit Drive screams their little heads off at Greene Street with Sleeping With Sirens, Tides Of Man, Abandon All Ships and For All Those Sleeping. Indie folks Koji strum at the Green Bean, while Riverwinds with guest Runaway Dorothy close it out at the Garage.
