extended play

by Ryan Snyder

It’s the furthest point between last weekend and next, so center yourself at today’s Tunes at Noon with only the second performance by jazz outfit Serendipity. Zoogma is offering a chance to go to Camp Bisco for free just by “liking” them. They’re at the Blind Tiger. Greene Street Club has chilled on bands for the summer, with a show by Honor Society with Action Item and Katelyn Tarver. At the Green Bean, Modern Robots live-score a showing of Nosferatu.

Not a Fratellis cover band, Charlotte psych auteurs the Chelsea Daggers visit Elliott’s Revue on Thursday. Asheville’s Uncle Mountain and Now You See Them carpool to the Green Bean, while Seattle hits the Blind Tiger with Nevermind and Them Bones. See your doctor about Priapus, who play CFBG with Tinsel Teeth, Satanized, Three-Brained Robot, Hithrdaxodes and Burn Doordoor.

Dexter Romweber plays his first of two shows, starting with Friday night at the Clubhouse. Dance, punks, with Lovecraft and Man or Lady at Elliott’s Revue. There’s grass-icana at the Garage with Dehlia Low and Gasoline Stove, and hard rock with Young Cardinals, Treetop Sailors and 100 Yorktown at the Blind Tiger. I’m at work, so Google Dickwolf yourself. They’re at CFBG with Children of Spy and the Radio Reds.

Ty Bru and the rest of MTTS set up at the Somewhere Else Tavern, while it’s Bolmongani, Honey Rider and Brian Daub at the Garage. Bitter Resolve is heavy as lead with In the Year of the Pig and Swordmasters of Ginaz at Legitimate Business, and Cindercat is a bit proggy at Blue Bourbon Jack’s in High Point. The Raving Knaves and My Cousin Walt pair up at Elliott’s Revue, and the Blind Tiger has the jams with Portable Heroes, Chris Stanfield & The Naturals, Imperial Blend and Autrey.

Sunday brings Latin folk-rock with Espantapajaros and guest Chase Hamblin at Elliott’s Revue, while there’s dynamite hip hop and beats by Wizzerds of Rhyme, Miss Eaves, Don Winsley, Dada Trash Collage and Jabon at Glenwood Coffee and Books. Holy Ghost Tent Revival, Walrus, and ESP celebrate the 4 th on Monday at the Blind Tiger.
