Regular Burrito with guacamole. Corn and flour tortilla chips with salsa fresca. $6.75

Carrburritos, 711 West Rosemary Street, Carrboro, NC 27510, (919) 933-8226

I make the trek down east to see concerts on a fairly regular basis, as I have for a number of years as a North Carolina resident.

This past Monday, my girlfriend and I made the drive to see Ted Leo & the Pharmacists play at Cat’s Cradle. So, I introduced her to one of my favorite taquerias in the state.

Carrburritos is located right in the edge of Chapel Hill and Carrboro, conveniently a block away from three good, small music venues, and just down the street from UNC. The atmosphere is bright and festive, with hip tattooed empolyees, with a few pieces of art on the wall, and an Artomat in the corner.

The menu features a mix of normal taqueria fare, and I went with my go-to meal — a regular burrito with black beans and guacamole. Per usual, the salsa, cheese, lettuce, beans, and guacamole were perfectly fresh, and mixed inside the flour tortilla, providing even distribution. It is Tex-Mexstyle Mexican food at its best.

Each dish comes with both corn and flour tortilla chips with your choice of salsa, which varies from the mild fresca to the firey habanero, which makes the $6.75 price worth every penny.
