Available at Costco or

Saturday before the Super Bowl, I had some spare time on my hands and made a decision to go to Costco. I didn’t need anything or want anything, but I jokingly told my son, “You never know what you’ll find that you never knew you needed, and they have lots of free snacks.”

One of my favorite things about the shopping meca is the abundance of sample booths through the store and Saturday they had pulled out all the stops.

I found a large, colorful display in the back featuring a variety of potato chips made by the Good Health Natural Foods Company, boasting their “good fat” content. Upon further inspection I found that Good Health Natural Foods in based here in good old Greensboro.

I purchased a variety pack of four flavors, but my favorite has got to be Kettle Style Avocado Oil Potato Chips with Chilean Lime. They come in a green bag and display great taste with the benefits of avocado oil which are high in antioxidants and monounsaturated fats — the good fat.

The chips are mouth-sized and very crunchy and fresh. The five-ounce bag includes five servings, which would bring the caloric intake up to 700 calories if you hit the couch solo with a Diet Coke and a good show to watch.

If I am going to indulge, I believe in supporting our local businesses. So the chip menu at Good Health is where I am heading. — Charles Womack
