Forsyth County Commissioners and Arts Council Announce 2018 Summer Parks Series

Winston-Salem, NC  (March 29, 2018) – The Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County has announced the lineup for its 2018 Summer Park Series that will include two events at Triad Park near Kernersville and three at Tanglewood Park.  A country music show at Tanglewood on Sunday, April 15, will kick off the series with Lacy Green, originally of Pilot Mountain and now living in Nashville TN,  as the headliner and an opening act by Paper Clowns, the multi-instrument, genre crossing power duo of Spiro and Nicole Nicolopoulos .

ABOVE PHOTO CAPTION: Singer, musician, and songwriter Lacy Green – originally from Pilot Mountain and now living in Nashville TN — will headline the April 15 kickoff of the Forsyth County Summer Parks Series. Since moving to Nashville, Lacy has played hundreds of shows across the country including Nashville’s most famous venues like The Bluebird Cafe and CMA Fest.

The Summer Park Series has had two successful runs at Forsyth County’s two extraordinary parks and performance venues, Triad Park and Tanglewood Park. “Our parks are tremendous assets,” said David Plyler, Chair, Forsyth County Commissioners, “and we want residents of the county to know about them and use them.  Our collaboration with The Arts Council, which has found enthusiastic local sponsors to help defray expenses, has worked well, and we’re back this year with five free outstanding, family friendly performances.” Event sponsors include Publix Super Markets Charities, Kaplan Early Learning Company, AlphaBEST Education, and Salem Smiles.

Two events at Triad Park and three at Tanglewood Park

All events, as well as parking, are free and family friendly. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs.  They may bring a picnic, and food trucks will be on site.  Refreshments such as soda, water, beer and wine are available with all proceeds supporting the Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County. No outside alcohol is permitted.

Jim Sparrow, President and CEO of The Arts Council, said, “The Summer Parks Series is one of the most rewarding ventures we have undertaken during my time here at The Arts Council.  We are working with County Commissioners who are dedicated to using county assets to the maximum and providing family friendly activities in our public parks for residents of Forsyth County.  We have been successful in finding sponsors who enthusiastically share their vision and, of course, we are grateful to them.”
