Grand Opening of the Double Oaks Bed & Breakfast and Reception Center

The public is invited to a grand opening soirée at Double Oaks Bed & Breakfast on New Year’s Eve in the historic H. T. Martin mansion at 204 N. Mendenhall St. in Greensboro. The house will be open for visitors starting at 8 p.m., and live jazz with the Aaron Matson Nonet will start at 10 p.m. and ring in the New Year. This event is free and open to the public. A cash bar will be available.

14563552_1242246332492655_1560642939232487929_nThe H. T. Martin mansion was recently purchased by James and Amanda Keith to be re-opened as a bed and breakfast and event space. It was previously owned by Ann and Win Milam, who ran the bed and breakfast from 1998 to 2007 and otherwise completed a full-scale restoration of the home. Built at the turn of the century, the Harden Thomas Martin House is one of only a handful of surviving examples of Colonial Revival style architecture in Greensboro, and it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. It has been known as “Double Oaks” for the two sprawling White Oaks that frame the front yard, both over 200 years old.

The new owners are looking forward to opening the doors of this well-known Greensboro gem to residents and visitors alike. More information can be found on the website, www.double-oaks.com. Media is encouraged to contact the owners for more information or publicity photos at 336.763.9821 or stay@double-oaks.com.
