Greensboro Farmers Market to Host the Gritty Blues Sat., April 8

(Last Updated On: April 4, 2017)

gritty bluesGreensboro, NC – The public is invited to attend the Gritty Blues event, to be held outside on the Curb Market lawn Saturday April 8, 2017 from 8:00am until 11:30am. This tasty event will honor two southern staples, grits with a side of blues!

Chef Jay Pierce of Traveled Farmers will be serving up piping hot bowls of The Old Mill of Guilford all-natural, stone ground grits. A sweet and savory, market-sourced toppings bar will include Neese’s Sausage products, sautéed seasonal greens, and Quaker Acre Apiaries honey. Chef Pierce will also be making his special shrimp and bacon gravy; limited quantities will available for an upcharge.

The market invites you to join the chef for a special book signing session at 10:00am. His cookbook Shrimp, a Savor the South cookbook from UNC Press, will be available for purchase during the event.

Enjoy our cozy picnic tables and the smooth rhythms of Johnny-O and the Jump Out Boys on the Curb Market lawn, weather permitting. This local blues band takes their inspiration from 1950’s Chicago-style blues. “They serve up old school blues ‘comfort food,’” says Dale Leslie, of DJL Vintage Audio.

The cost of the Gritty Blues fundraiser is $5.00 per bowl, $10.00 per bowl for shrimp and bacon gravy, and is first come, first serve; while supplies last. The brunch includes a bowl of creamy, hot grits plus choice of toppings. Beverages will be available for purchase as well. Proceeds will benefit the Greensboro Farmers Curb Market.
