GSO City Market: “Present” – Second in Series this Friday in Downtown Greensboro
Greensboro, NC (May 14, 2018): This Friday, the second 2018 GSO City Market kicks off at 6pm and runs till 10pm on West Lewis Street in the South End of downtown. This market, themed “Present” in the series “Past, Present, and Future” will celebrate some of Greensboro’s current initiatives through UNCG’s Greensboro Project Art Space and Community Arts Collaborative alongside artisan food producers, handcrafted projects, locally produced clothing, several types of art, and more!
This market will feature live music by Chris Ellington and Beau Jame on Boxcar’s patio beginning at 7pm. Zeko’s 2 Go food truck and Natty Greene’s Brewing Company will be sharing great food and brews outside of the Forge and GPS Friday evening.
The Greensboro Farmers Curb Market will showcase the culinary skills of Ninevah Murray with Make This Your NC. Her theme for the local food demonstration is “This is not your typical hummus. Come and sample three types of freshly-made hummus and try to identify the vegetables used. You’ll be delightfully surprised by the “deliciousness” of hummus created from vegetables you never imagined eating on a cracker!”
Exhibits at GPS will showcase a photography exhibition inspired by the Greensboro Bound Literacy Festival, and a print exhibition by Ali Al-Khasrachi in collaboration with “Every Campus a Refuge.” Student Alley will be comprised of a row of emerging artist vendors from local universities for the public to engage with, and Business Karaoke which invites the public to create stories for local businesses to inspire collaboration. While at the end of West Lewis St. take a tour and meet some makers at the Forge Makerspace to see what talent is housed under one collaborative roof.

Proceeds from the May City market will benefit recipients of the Fresh Food Access Program at the Greensboro Farmers Curb Market for those who are food insecure by providing “Double Up” SNAP /EBT (food stamp) benefits for recipients to purchase fresh, healthy nourishing food from the Market. The Market is open year round on Saturdays and seasonally on Wednesday April to December with fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy, eggs, meats, honey, prepared foods and artisan goods connecting farmers, food and friends from a 100 mile origin guaranteeing patrons are shopping direct from the grower and maker.
