JAM is Coming to High Point
April is nationally recognized as Jazz Appreciation Month (JAM) to celebrate the heritage and history of jazz across the United States. With High Point’s deep roots in jazz, the High Point Arts Council is excited to be putting together a calendar of events for the month of April that will feature all jazz related events in High Point so that local residents may remember and celebrate a genre that is at the core of High Point’s community and history.
To create this calendar of events, the High Point Arts Council would like to invite and encourage all local small businesses and venue spaces to create jazz-related events that can be anywhere from a local jazz musician performing one evening to a painting class or book reading that is jazz oriented — JAM is a celebration of jazz across all mediums of art, not just music. If you already have a jazz-related event scheduled for April, that is wonderful! The details of already scheduled events may be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org so they can be added to the calendar. In return for doing your part in recognizing JAM in High Point, created events will be publicized online and in print through posters and flyers to increase awareness of all events, businesses and artists involved.
The High Point Arts Council is striving to have events through April so that High Point itself will become more synonymous with jazz across North Carolina and the United States.
