Dottie Cooke — business activist

This week’s Page Three model, Dottie Cook, is a woman on a mission. As owner of Jack Cecil’s boutique in Greensboro, she understands the challenges small-business owners face and the cachet they bring to the local culture and economy. That’s why she started Buy Triad First, dedicated to boosting local businesses. “If you spend $100 in a local business, $68 stays in the local community,” she says. “If you spend $100 in a chain or big-box store, $33 stays here, and if you shop on the internet, zero stays in our community.” She’s holding an event this weekend at the store in Winstead Commons, and Buy Triad First holds its first meeting on Jan. 11 at Revolution Mills.
