Okay, so maybe this isn’t Donald Ross, architect of the course art Sedgefield, home to the Wyndham Championship held this week in Greensboro. Upon closer inspection, he does bear a slight resemblance to Ogi Overman, editor of the Jamestown News and aficionado of the Gate City’s annual love affair with the “game of confidence.” Look for Ross out on the grounds of Sedgefield during the tournament, held through Sunday, where he will be able to answer any and all questions about his take on the sport and its history, his philosophy of course design and, possibly, a few fashion tips. And don’t expect him to break character until all the tents are packed up, the divots replaced and a new champion declared. Read more about the tournament, its history and its role in shaping local politics in this week’s cover story on page 14.
