There’s no one way to build a legacy, as the case of Rodney Holman neatly illustrates. Holman, a Triad native, is a multi-talented artist dividing his writing skills between poetry and music. His self-published collection of poetry, The Universal Solvent, is due in April and Holman was also recently commissioned to write the inaugural poem for the Harlem Book Fair, now the largest annual event of its kind. His musical prowess earned him a chance to record one of his original compositions at Schnee Studios in North Hollywood, Calif. And get this: He still makes time to teach poetry writing workshops for gradeschool students and adults with the theme of creating community and racial harmony. Holman is currently looking for an agent and a publisher for his second collection of poetry, The Gift of All, and his first novel.
