The rising UNCW first-year was named the Distinguished Young Woman of North Carolina for 2011, a statewide competition held in Greensboro. The scholarship award, which is the oldest national scholarship for high school girls, judges not only academic performance, but also talent, physical fitness, self expression and interview skills.
